Compromise

Compromise is something all of us fall prey to. Just a look here, just a white lie over there, and before you know it you are sliding down a slippery slope and becoming the person you never intended to be. The world wants us to compromise our obedience to God in order to be relevant and "real". I have concluded that it is not the job of a Christian to be relevant, but to be faithful to what God has called them to. This is what it means to be "real". Furthermore, if you do compromise your beliefs and convictions in order to get the world to respect you, they tend to do the opposite. It was the great Billy Graham who said,
“The very ones whose social pressure cause you to compromise will despise you for it. They probably respect your convictions, and many of them wish they had the moral stamina to stand alone. May the Lord give you added courage to be a witness for Him, even in a hard place.” Billy Graham
We all make mistakes; we all make compromises. If you have found yourself in a place where compromise has shipwrecked your faith, God is for you. He loves you and understands, but he calls us back to a life of obedience to his word. Go be the Church.
